Reality is fractal
From what I’ve seen in her papers so far, Aunt Kat did a lot of thinking about this. Not surprising, given that in this reality, most of the people they knew would either be dead, or hadn’t even been born. So many would-be fathers died in that so-called ‘war to end all wars’…
She says in her notes that this ‘same and different’ thing is fractal – same and different, at every scale, everywhere. Sometimes there are big chunks of ‘sameness’, like their farm seems to be. For now, anyway. But most are at much smaller scales, all the way down to truly tiny, like the way the atoms that make us up have probably also been part of everyone else.
Which means that every possibility, every ‘alternative world’, is also out there, somewhere. Everywhere. And we can reach out to it, maybe even get to it.
If we knew how to get there.
